Let me tell you a little bit about me, I’m Melissa, a free-spirited gal originally hailing from the vibrant landscapes of New Jersey. These days, you’ll find me nestled in the heart of Iowa, alongside my loving husband Mike.
While originally from the garden state, I have lived all over the east coast as a child. I moved to the Midwest at 18 and I have been through more surgeries and illnesses than I care to remember. although it’s hard to forget the time I spent 60 days in the hospital, I can’t seem to shake that traumatic time.
Through this unique experience, I learned a lot along the way because my upbringing was filled with a blend of responsibility and freedom at a young age. I like to think of the hard times as my parents teaching me what not to do, so I wouldn’t change a thing.
Despite the challenges I faced, I learned the delicate art of surviving on microwave-grilled cheese and dodging questionable life choices.
Thankfully, I found solace and inspiration in my loving Italian grandmother Ellen, who swooped in like a culinary superhero, dishing out mouthwatering meals and colorful language.
She was my guardian angel, the one stable and sane person in my life who bestowed upon me the sacred knowledge of cooking and cleaning.
Little did she know that those lessons would ignite a lifelong passion for homemaking within me.
From that moment forward, I embraced the art of creating a warm and nurturing home, a skill that continues to be an integral part of who I am today.
But my grandmother’s influence didn’t stop there. Oh no, she opened the doors to a world teeming with life and love. Through her, I developed a profound affection for animals, finding solace in their company and a sense of purpose in caring for them.
And as if that wasn’t enough, her green thumb and culinary prowess awakened in me a deep appreciation for gardening and cooking. Together, these passions have woven a tapestry of joy and fulfillment into the very fabric of my existence.
