I have an endless supply of old Pickle Jars on my hands so I have decided to get crafty and make DIY Halloween Lanterns out of them. I used my Cricut to make vinyl stickers. It’s really easy to transform a pickle jar into a spooky decoration and the possibilities are endless. I found some random Halloween related images and placed them on the jars. I applied some before and some after spray painting the jars.

When making DIY lanterns, the most important part of the entire project is to make sure you are going to be able to let the light shine through. I had the best results when I used one of the designs as a stencil and placed it on top of the jar before spraying it.
This method leaves a nice clear space for light to shine through.
Plus, I was able to reuse the stencil after painting it. I just peeled it off of the jar and then stuck it to another one. I like reusing everything when possible, not just pickle jars!
I really like the way the chrome jars shine and reflect light. Unfortunately, it can be hard to spray, just the right amount of paint, leaving enough transparency for light to shine through.
So, in order for more light to get out of the chrome sprayed jars, I used my Weeding Tools to scratch out some lightning bolts sporadically.
The light shimmers beautifully through the jars and onto random surfaces nearby when this lantern is lit at night. Plus it’s a nice way to fill up blank space on the sides of the jar.
After applying the vinyl to your lanterns, wrap the top of each jar with some sparkly ribbon and then place a light source inside.
