We all have memories of being sick and downing every can of chicken noodle soup we could get our hands on. Those were the days when being sick meant that you got to take the day off. As adults, we know that there is no such thing as a day off, even when we aren’t feeling our best.
For those days, there is this Homemade Chicken Soup Recipe.
I have made this same Homemade Chicken Soup Recipe for years using all kinds of different methods but I like making it in my dutch oven best.
The heavy lid allows all of the delicious chicken soup to stay in while cooking instead of splattering out when the temperature gets a little high.
It also doubles as a great way to store your chicken soup and easy for reheating, plus it looks super cute.
This Homemade Chicken Soup Recipe is so easy to make! Start out with a whole chicken, cleaned and weird little bag inside removed, place it in your pot.
It doesn’t have to be a dutch oven, you can use a stock pot if you would like.
Add in about 6 cups or so of water, I have added more water when making this homemade chicken soup recipe in the past but this ratio seems to make the most flavorful chicken broth although a cup or two, either way, may not change the flavor too much.
I then add spiralized carrots, you can do this with a potato peeler or use a spiralizer. This gives them a chicken noodle type shape and it replaces pasta but you could add in some if you enjoy noodles in your Homemade Chicken Soup.
