What is Pizza Ranch?
If you aren’t familiar with Pizza Ranch, let me fill you in. Pizza Ranch is a western-themed pizza franchise that serves a buffet of pizza, chicken, a salad bar, and dessert pizzas, like cactus bread.
Cactus Bread is the star of the show at Pizza Ranch for many, it’s their signature dessert but the best item on the menu in my opinion is the blueberry dessert pizza!
The are absolutely massive in the Midwest, boasting an impressive 200+ locations spread across 13 states.
They’ve truly made a name for themselves with their delightful prairie-style pizza and finger-lickin’ cowboy chicken dishes.
The heartwarming taste of the prairie and the rustic charm of the cowboy come together in a delicious dining experience that originated in Hull, Iowa in 1981.
The location by my house offers private rooms for large groups and an arcade. So, whenever I have family in town, we always visit but when the craving hits in between visits, I whip up this copycat recipe.

Cookie Topping
Some of the Pizza Ranch dessert pie copycat recipes I have read online call for a shortbread cookie crumble topping. This will speed up the process and make this blueberry dessert even easier to make.
Just skip the brown sugar, butter, flour, and cinnamon mixture and replace them with crumbled shortbread cookies for an even faster dessert pizza.
Copycat Pizza Ranch Dessert Pizza Recipe Ingredients
To make this copycat dessert pizza recipe you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 Premade Pie Crust
- 1 Can Blueberry Pie Filling
- 4 Tablespoons of Butter
- 2/3 Cup of Brown Sugar
- 2/3 Cup of flour
- 1/2 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
- 1 Cup of Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons of Milk (Any milk you have on hand will work)
How to Make Blueberry Dessert Pizza
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and pull your refrigerated pie crust out of the fridge to allow it to come to room temperature. This makes it easier to work with and prevents it from cracking.
Spread the pie crust out on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Pour the blueberry pie filling on top and spread around all the way to the edges. You can leave a bit of a crust for a handle to make this fruit pizza easier to pick up or serve with a fork and spread it all over the pie crust.
In a medium bowl, whisk together softened butter, brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and cinnamon.
Once the mixture is well combined, sprinkle it on top of the blueberry pie filling.
Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the crust and crumble reaches your desired crisp.
While that is baking, whip up the icing by mixing the milk with the powdered sugar. Save this part to drizzle on top when the pie is done baking.
You can scoop the icing into a Ziplock bag to make spreading easier and create a perfect spiral on top of the blueberry pizza pie.
Serving Ideas
One of my favorite things about Pizza Ranch is the self-serve ice cream machine. Since this Midwestern fast casual restaurant chain is a buffet, there are no rules about how much ice cream you can consume or what you can put it on.
I often pour some in my soda and make an ice cream float. I also love to pair it with the desserts, especially the dessert pizzas. So, when I make this Pizza Ranch inspired fruit pie at home, I always serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This fruit pizza pie is great when served warm, fresh out of the oven. It also reheats easily in the air fryer or microwave oven and is also delicious when served cold the next day.
Another fun idea is to mix this dessert pizza with your favorite ice cream and serve in a large cup to replicate a Dairy queen Blizzard treat.
No matter how you decide to serve this Pizza Ranch inspired fruit pizza it is sure to be a hit.
